i knew everything would be alright...

yesterday, on my way to work at the break of dawn, i knew that the rest of the day was shaping up when i heard Footloose by Kenny Loggins. now, i have to admit, i haven't even seen the entire movie Footloose, and i have never been particularly excited by or moved to boogie upon hearing the theme song, but, something about the song, on this particular morning, made me smile.

kitchen nook inspiration

our kitchen nook overlooking our garden, the canyon, and far-off homes

it is quite possible that nick and i have one of the smallest homes, and without a doubt, the worlds smallest kitchen. a whopping 550 sq. feet in all. when we first looked at the house, it seemed very small, and this was seeing it without furniture. i have always been inspired by small spaces, and decided we needed to challenge ourselves (and our relationship!) by moving in. we moved into our cozy home in may 2007, and haven't had the urge to leave yet. we absolutely love eating breakfast, reading & watching nature flourish in front of the wall-sized window. we realize, that even in these rocky and unstable times, we have so much to be thankful for.

spring is here

Lanvin via style.com

the storm is over. the sun has emerged, although it continues to be chilly and breezy. i live in LA, i know, i really don't have much to complain about when it comes to weather... i am happily thinking about infusing huge pops of color into my wardrobe. i'll take any of these from Lanvin's spring '09 show. what do you want to wear this spring?

happy valentine's day

awww, some vintage photobooth shots of us. i'll go ahead and brag, we're cute! here's a fun tidbit you might not know: nick and i share the same ethnic background, except i have apache indian blood as well. here is the BEST part, nick's middle name is geronimo, probably the best known chief in all of apache history! i guess it was destined to be...

homemade pizza

with our recent "3-day, no end in sight" rain storm, we thought it'd be perfectly fitting to spend a late afternoon whipping up some homemade pizzas. i have to admit, nick and i are pretty crafty in the kitchen, however, when it comes to making dough & pesto, he totally out does me. we don't really venture too far off the pizza pan, if you know what i mean, when it comes to choosing pizza toppings. but, last nights pizza adventure included: 1-nick's homemade pesto, roasted broccoli, roasted cauliflower, spinach, & parmesan cheese pizza. and 1-rustic red sauce, thickly sliced salami, mushrooms, black olives, & mozzarella cheese pizza. super yum!

rainy day, please stay

Kate C, Rain Storm, 2003

rain always gives me the added excuse to: stay inside, wear fuzzy socks and huge sweatshirts, brew more strong coffee, take dog naps with geeg, watch black and white films, make vats of veggie soup, browse favorite magazines... but, alas, i do have to leave the house for work tomorrow.
