red tail hawk
it seems like i've been seeing more red tail hawks lately. is that because spring is right around the corner or because i am paying closer attention?

only open saturday
the Huntington houses a huge (largest we've ever seen) array of cacti & succulents, from all over the world, in a greenhouse not far from the main walkway. apparently it's only open to the public on saturday's. take a look the next time you go, you're guaranteed to see something new.
also... a very sweet neighbor told us about a local shelter not to far from where we live. nick and i spent some time looking at their web photos of some (over 150, so sad) of the dogs currently "staying" there. we saw at least 6 we knew would be perfect. but then, we remembered a story our friend M shared with us about "the woman who saved 8 dogs," hmmm....

inspiration
i believe this book was printed in 1946, but i can't find it anywhere, so i can't be sure. if i could get the highlight/shadow just right, these would make amazing prints.
